PURPOSE:To eliminate the idle time of a grinding wheel when a substance to be machined is fitted or removed by employing two machining tables whereon the substance to be machined is mounted and which is capable of rotating and moving in the direction of an axial line to one grinding wheel alternately. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pillar-shaped substances 15 to be machined are mounted on the electromagnetic chuck surface of one circular machining table 7 located on one side from the center of the grinding wheel 3. Next, while the table 7 being rotated, it is lifted toward the grinding wheel 3 which is rotating and the upper end surface of the substance 15 is ground by the lower end edge of the wheel 3. During this grinding operations, another substance 16 to be machined is mounted on the electromagnetic chuck surface of the circular machining table 8 which is retreated to the other side from the center of the grinding wheel 3. After the grinding is over, the table 7 is lowered, while the other table 8 is lifted concurrently toward the grinding wheel 3 and the substance 16 on the machining table 8 is ground. |
