Title compd. (I), useful as fungicides and insecticides, was prepd. by the reaction of III and ClSCCl2CCl2F. III was obtained from the reaction of II and sodium hydride at refluxing temp in inactive solvent. Thus, 2.36 g benzanilide and 0.4 g sodium hydride were stirred at room temp in 80 ml tetra-hydrofuran, and refluxed for 2 hr. 50 ml Tetrahydrofuran contg. 3.03 g ClCCl2CCl2F was dropped in the soln. for 1 hr, and stirred for 1 day to give 3.2 g N-1, 1, 2, 2-tetrachloro-2-fluoroethylthiobenzanilide.
