Diagnostic soln. of alkali metal pertechnetate in ethanol - for diagnosis of human lung abnormalities by imaging

Diagnostic soln. comprises an alkali metal pertechnetate (I) and EtOH. The soln. is used in diagnosis with a gamma-camera of abnormalities in the human lung, esp. abnormalities causing changes in the pattern of distribution of air during breathing. The subject needs only a few puffs of vapour contg. the Na2 99mTcO4 during normal tidal breathing to get adequate, reproducible and controlled airways deposition. There is minimal wastage, radiation shielding is straightforward and no rehearsal or patient education is required.
