Stuffing appts. for inserting bits into expandable cavity of items to be stuffed. The appts. includes a dilator which has angularly spaced movable fingers. The fingers are insertable into the mouth of the cavity and openable to enlarge the mouth for easy entry of the bit. Esp. used for stuffing olives with bits of pimento, in conjunction with a pitting machine which has formed the cavities in the process of removing the pits. Stuffing is automated and rapid. The olives remain undamaged. Finished appearance is attractive.
