PURPOSE:To obtain a high capacity battery by inserting a positive electrode, an aluminum foil which covers the bottom of the positive electrode, and a positive ring having an insulating layer on its inner surface to cover the side surface and the upper circular part of the positive electrode and bonding them together. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum foil 2 is placed in the bottom of a battery case 1, then a pellet 3 obtained by molding a positive black mix mainly comprising AgO powder and containing Ag2O and polytetrafluoroethylene powder, and a positive ring 4 obtained by forming an insulating layer 4b on the inner surface of a nickel plate are placed. The pellet 3, the ring 4, and the foil 2 are fixed together in the case, and a specified amount of electrolyte is poured on the pellet. A negative electrode comprising amalgamated zinc powder and gelling agent is placed in a sealing plate 5 having copper in its inner surface, and a specified amount of electrolyte is poured to the negative electrode. The case 1 and the sealing plate 5 which the negative electrode is arranged are put together via a separator 8 and an electrolyte absorbing material 9, and they are sealed. This battery is aged at about 45 deg.C to complete the process. |
