PURPOSE:To enable the continuous engraving of a delicate decorating pattern by irradiating a YAG laser beam on the outer peripheral face of an annular or tubular article to be worked and by engraving a pattern, etc. on the whole face of its surface with changing the irradiating direction within the prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:An annular work 3 which is held by a circular 2 is placed just under the irradiating aperture 1a of a laser oscillator 1 and the focus of a condensing lens 6 is set to the face to be worked of the work 3 with intersecting at right angles the optical axis of the lens 6 with the axial line of the work 3. An irradiating pattern and timing corresponding to the engraving pattern are programmed into the controller 7 of the oscillator 1 and the controller 8 of a pulse motor turning the work 3 is linked with a controller 7 and the YAG laser beam is irradiated on the working article 3. At the working time the laser beam is changed within the range of about 20 deg. in the peripheral direction from the neutral line. The continuous engraving of delicate patterns on the outer peripheral face of the annular work is thus enabled. |
