PURPOSE:To obtain a spectrally sensitized emulsion especially high in green sensitivity and small in changes of sensitivity, fog, etc., during storage by incorporating the combination of a specified sensitizing dye and a specified compd. in a silver halide emulsion. CONSTITUTION:High green sensitivity especially narrowed in the wavelength region in the spectral green sensitivity region is obtained by incorporating in the silver halide emulsion a sensitizing dye represented by formula I (in which each of V1 and V2 is independently, H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, phenyl, carboxy, OH, or alkoxycarbonyl, or they may form a condensed benzene ring; R1 is H, optionally substd. alkyl, or phenyl; each of R2 and R3 is independently optionally substd. alkyl, and at least one of both is alkyl substd. by sulfo or carboxy; X<-1> is an acid anion; n is 1 or 2, and when the dye forms an intramolecular salt, n is 1), and a compd. represented by formula II in which R5 is H, halogen, alkyl, optionally substd. amino, or the like; Y is alkylene, phenylene, -COO-; X<-1> is an anion; and m1, m2 are each 1-19. |
