A selection apparatus for microscopic objects, especially micro-fossils, comprising a casing (1) with a cover plate which has a hole (3) in its centre and a microscope arranged above it; under the cover plate is fitted a movable slide (5) on which a number of cells are arranged for receiving the desired objects. Mounted on the slide (5), which can be moved in the X-direction, is a receiving plate (11), which can be moved in the Y-direction (13). Two independently-controlled drives are provided, for the slide (5) on the one side and for the receiving plate (11) on the other, in the two directions (6 and 13). A component plate (16) with a cell matrix (17) can be connected to the receiving plate (11).
