ROLLING ROLL FOR CLAD MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To extend the life of a rolling roll for a clad material by using a compact sintered silicon nitride body for said roll. CONSTITUTION:The silicon nitride powder added with an oxide such as Al2O3, MgO or Y2O3 or nitride such as AlN or Mg3N2 as a sintering assistant is used as an essential component for the silicon nitride material and the compact sintered Si3N4 is formed thereof by sintering said material under the pressure or atmospheric pressure in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, for example, gaseous N2. The rolling roll for a clad material is produced by using such sintered body, by which the life of the rolling roll is extended.
