<p>PURPOSE:To prevent local clogging in a filter by providing a U-shaped ground electrode, a high-dielectric constant filter, and plural electrically conductive wires in an electrostatic air cleaner, and grounding at least one of the wires to the ground electrode. CONSTITUTION:The contaminated air, sucked in from a suction port 2, is cleaned by a high-dielectric constant filter 7 which is placed in an electric field generated by a high voltage impressed between an electrically conductive wire 5 and a U-shaped electrode 6 of an electrically conductive fiber or wire body. One of the three conductive wires, which are arranged in the lengthwise direction at the central part of the high-dielectric constant filter which is provided on the inner surface of the ground electrode, is grounded to make the distribution of the electric field uniform. Consequently, local clogging in the filter is eliminated. Clean air is discharged from a blow-out port 8 by the rotation of a fan 1.</p> |
