The industrial heating furnace burner element consisting of the combustion air tube (6) and fuel gas supply (8) to the burner mixing nozzle is set inside the reinforced refractory cement roof, or furnace sidewall, in such a way that the clearance between the outer diameter of the burner element and the inside diameter of the roof or wall opening is held to the minimum consistent with ease of installation or maintenance. When installed the tip of the mixing nozzle (10) of the burner element is located well within the thickness of the roof or sidewall (1) and the refractory cement is contoured and moulded to form a bell mouth or funnel shaped opening into the combustion chamber.
