<p>The alkyl ether of formula (I) is made by (a) reacting 1-alkyloxy 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl) 2-bromoethane (II) with excess imidazole (III). The reaction is carried out in a solvent e.g. toluene or similar, at 100-110 deg.C; (b) removing excess reactant by washing with water; and (c) evaporating to dryness, leaving a waxy solid.</p> |
