<p>The i.c. engine fuel injection system comprises a high-pressure injection pump (10) with reciprocating cam-driven piston (11), of which the outlet (13) connects to the respective injectors. The pump inlet (33) connects with the outlet (25) of a feed pump (23). An electrically controlled valve (38) is arranged in the outlet (13) to divert part of the fuel and thus control the amounts injected. - A three-position valve (35) in the connection (34) is operable to permit variable throttling of the flow from the feed pump. The two valves (38,35) are mechanically coupled. The valve (35) pref. has a first position permitting free flow (34A), a second position permitting throttled flow (34B) and a third shut-off position.</p> |
