<p>A voltage to frequency converter (1) includes a very high accuracy one-shot monostable circuit (2) that determines precisely the duration of the reset period of a sawtooth waveform generated by an integrating circuit (3,4,6,8). The high precision one-shot circuit utilizes emitter coupled transistors (35,36) which establish a very precise initial voltage on a capacitor (26) in the one-shot circuit by means of non-saturating transistor switching circuitry (27), which also decouples the source of the initial voltage from the one-shot capacitor (26) to allow linear discharging of the capacitor. A precise final reference voltage is compared by a comparator (20) with the linear discharging voltage on the capacitor (26) in order to produce a comparison signal which terminates the one-shot pulse by resetting a flip flop (17) that causes the source of the initial voltage to be re-coupled to the capacitor (26). <IMAGE></p> |
