The invention relates to a method for fighting forest fires by spraying dust, sand, and gravel picked up at the site. A vehicle 1 is equipped at the front with brush-clearing discs 2 as well as with harrows 3 for clearing and scraping the ground. Following this a belt sieve 6 filters the scraped material, which is gathered by an aspirator 5. The extinguishing granular material passes via the sleeve 7 then is taken up by a fan coupled to an auxiliary motor 11 which delivers it under pressure onto the fire by means of the gun nozzle 8 or the hand nozzle 9. All the controls are centralised in the cab 10. This method according to the invention is intended for all services for protecting against and fighting forest, wood, coppice, steppe or bushland fires. <IMAGE>
