PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer having improved adhesiveness and dyeability, by using a specific transition metal compound and an organometallic compound, as a catalyst, copolymerizing ethylene with an acrylate in the presence of a Lewis acid, and controlling the composition. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene is copolymerized with an (alpha-substituted) acrylate in the presence of a Lewis acid by using (A) A transition metal compound shown by the formula I (M<1> is vanadium, zirconium, or hafnium; R<1> is 1-20C alkyl, aryl, etc.; X is halogen; Y is O, cyclopentadienyl, or acetylacetonato; l, m, and n are the real number of 0-5) and (B) a compound shown by the formula II (R<2> is 1-20C alkyl, or aryl; M<2> is lithium, sodium, potassium, zinc, cadmium, aluminum, boron, or gallium; p is valence of M<2>; 0<q<=p) as an organometallic compound of group I -III of the periodic table as a catalyst. |
