SPINDLE COOLER FOR MACHINE TOOL

PURPOSE:To cool the spindle through simple structure by making a path communicatable with the outside in axial direction through the spindle while constructing such that the air is sucked centrifugally from the other end of path and discharged to the outside. CONSTITUTION:An impeller 30 will rotate counter clockwise together with the grinding wheel shaft 13 to drag the air over the inner/outer faces of the impeller 30 and the pulley 21. Differential pressure is produced across the inner/outer faces of the impeller 30 and the pulley 21 with correspondence to the difference of the circumferential speed of the dragging air then combined with the centrifugal foce to discharge the air to the outside. Consequently, the air is sucked from the grinding wheel 20 side of the path 22 and delivered through the path 22 and the feed path 31. With such arrangement, the spindle 13 is cooled continuously by the air flow resulting in simplification of the cooling system.
