Portable support for a camera or the like intended to improve the stability and immobility of such a piece of equipment during its use. This support consists of a rigid hollow body 1 whose rear end assumes the shape of a gun butt adapted so as to rest against one shoulder of the user, whereas its front end comprises a handle 6 capable of being grasped with the hand of the corresponding arm. As to its middle part, that has a projection 4 carrying a plate 5 adapted so as to serve as the actual support for a photographic or cinematographic camera, comprising means capable of fastening such a piece of equipment in place.
