OSCILLATING METHOD OF MOLD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF STEEL

PURPOSE:To draw a billet at a high speed by oscillating vertically a casting mold in such a manner that the oscillation waveform is made non-sinusoidal waveform having a prescribed waveform distortion factor and that the time ratio of a negative strip attains a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:The casting mold is vertically oscillated in such a manner that the oscillating waveform thereof is made non-sinusoidal waveform having the waveform distortion factor expressed by the prescribed equation and that the time ratio of the negative strip expressed by the specific equation in one cycle attains <25%. The desired compressive stress is thus always applied to the solidified shell in the mold and the oscillation frequency of the mold is decreased to flow thoroughly the powder slag between the solidified shell and the mold. The drawing of the billet having the excellent surface characteristic at a high speed from the mold is thus made possible and the generation of breakout is obviated.
