PURPOSE:To prevent clogging with a low cost to form a uniform thin toner layer by providing a magnetic field generating means, which faces a magnetic material brush and forms a curtain of lines of the magnetic force between this means and the magnetic material brush, on the rear face of a toner holding member. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic material brush consists of a holding tool 14A and a brush 14B where fibrous magnetic materials are bundled. An interval l between the root of the brush and the surface of a toner holding member 10 can be set to about 2-3mm.. The curtain of lines of the magnetic force is formed between the highest N pole of a magnetic field generating means 16 and the brush 14B, and toner particles are connected in a chain in accordance with this curtain to form the brush. Consequently, toner particles 20 passing the part of the magnetic material brush 14 are swept and leveled by the magnetic material brush and the brush due to the toner to form a uniform thin toner layer without clogging on the toner holding member 10. |
