A deburring method, in particular for a steel strip (1) cut into slabs (1a) with an oxyacetylene torch (18), the jet of which is perpendicular to one (2) of the large sides of the strip (1). According to the method, a jet of fluid which is inert with respect to the torch (18) jet is directed onto the large side (3) of the strip (1) which is opposite the large side (2) being subjected to the jet of the oxyacetylene torch (18), in the region which is being cut. A device for implementing the method is also provided.
