The automatic or semi-automatic hunting gun is actuated by tapping off part of the propellant gases. It is equipped with a floating barrel, and has a sealing plug screwing into the magazine and bearing against one end of the guard, the other end of the latter bearing against the stock. In the rest position there may be a free annular space between the rear end of the barrel or breech and the corresponding portion of the stock. This space may be formed by a washer bearing via an elastic stop against a reinforcing and support tube fixed to the hand guard.
