PURPOSE:To make it easy to connect homopolar plates in the same cell room in parallel to each other, and connect heteropolar plates in the adjoining cell rooms in series to each other, by soldering under the peculiar condition the ends of lugs, which project out of a battery jar, of polar plates which are inserted in each of the cell chambers of the battery jar. CONSTITUTION:After a group of polar plates consisting of positive polar plates 18, negative polar plates 19 and separators 20, is inserted in each of cell chambers of a monoblock battery jar 17, this battery jar 17 is reversed and lugs 13 of the polar plates are held downward, the interval 21 between the ends of the lugs 13 is made less than 1.0mm. by a bake plate 22, and the surfaces of the ends of the lugs 13 of the polar plates are dipped in a soldering tank covered with inert gas. In this way, the homopolar plates in the same cell chamber are connected in parallel to each other, and the heteropolar plates in the cell chambers which adjoin with a partitioning wall of the battery jar 17 are connected in series to each other. At this time, if the welding is performed without the inert gas, the welded part 16 becomes cone-shaped, consequently it becomes not suitable for miniaturization of the battery, and the reliability of the welding is lost. If the interval between the polar plate lugs 13 is more than 1.0mm., the mutual welding can not be performed. |
