The vehicle for transporting prefabricated garages has a carriage which can be displaced on guides of the frame of the vehicle. A pole is seated on the carriage, a frame which engages on the door opening of the garage being vertically guided on the said pole. Lowerable floor supports are provided between the front and rear axles on the one hand and also in the rear area. A counterbearing is arranged so as to be independently displaceable between the carriage and the driver's cab and is connected to the pole via a bracing in order to absorb the tilting moments during the loading and unloading of the garage over the rear of the vehicle. In the limit position of the carriage on the rear of the vehicle, the counterbearing is fixed at a distance therefrom so that the weight of the garage is taken up on the one hand by the pole in the area of the rear of the vehicle and on the other hand via the bracing and the counterbearing in the area between the axles, as a result of which the tilting moments on the pole and the vehicle are distributed in a favourable manner.
