PURPOSE:To prevent uneven electrostatic charging from occurring and to form a high-quality image by providing an electric contact for electrically earthing an image carrier and an electric contact for impressing AC voltage on an electrostatic charging means near the ends thereof on opposite sides to each other in the longitudinal direction of the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:One shaft 2 for supporting the rotation of a photo-sensitive drum 7 is made of metal and the drum 7 is earthed through the shaft 21. Then, the contact member 49 for electrostatic charging bias is arranged on an opposite side to a side where a helical gear 7c is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the drum 7, and the metallic shaft 21 functioning as a drum earth contact is provided on the side where the helical gear 7c is provided. Since the shaft 21 functioning as the electric contact for earthing the drum 7 and the electric contact 49 for electrostatic charging are provided to be separated on both sides in the longitudinal direction of the drum 7, they do not interfere with each other and stray capacity is not formed, then the drum 7 is electrostatically charged without unevenness. |
