PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a sliding gate type nozzle and to improve the safety of tapping by conducting electricity to the metal in the gate of the nozzle to heat and melt the metal and opening the passage thereof. CONSTITUTION:Electric current is passed through a graphite electrode 3 to the metal solidifed in the stationary gate 21 in the stage of tapping the molten metal 10 through the sliding gate type nozzle 2 of a vessel 1 for the molten metal. The molten metal is heated and molted by the current. The moving gate 22 is then slided to open the passage to tap the molten metal 10. The damage of the nozzle 2 is prevented and the safety in the stage of tapping is improved by the above- mentioned method. |
