PURPOSE:To manufacture a heat insulator for molten metal having a uniform carbon content and a uniform grain size at a low cost by mixing sludge produced by treating waste water from a paper pulp mill with conbustible waste of a specified size as a combustion improver and by burning the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Combustible waste such as bark is screened with a vibraion screen 2 provided with a smooth screen plate having a large number of circular holes of about 30-60mm. diameter or elliptical holes of about 60-200mm. major axis size and about 30-60mm. minor axis size at about 25-50 deg. tilt angle. Part A1 of dehydrated sludge produced by treating waste water is mixed with part of the screened combustible waste C' in a mixer 9, and the mixture is dried with combustion gas from an incineration section 6 in a drying section 5. The resulting dry sludge B is mixed with other part A2 of the dehydrated sludge and other part of the combustible waste C' in a mixer 10, and the mixture is burned in the incineration section 6. The burned product (heat insulator) is sent to a hopper 12. |
