PURPOSE:To form all head elements simultaneously in the same process by using magnetic head elements which have the 1st gap length suitable for short wavelength and magnetic head elements which have the 2nd longer gap length suitable for long wavelength. CONSTITUTION:A common magnetic substrate 1 whose one main surface 1a is made of a magnetic body is provided and numbers of magnetic head elements are formed on the main surface 11a. Those magnetic head elements are arrayed in parallel as magnetic head elements for data recording, and a magnetic head element 2c for recording a cue signal of long wavelength is arranged at one side of said array part. Those data recording magnetic head elements 2d and cue signal recording magnetic head element 2c are formed simultaneously in the same process. For example, a nonmagnetic insulating layer 3 of SiO2, etc., is adhered and formed on the main surface 1a of the common magnetic substrate 1 and a thin-film conductor 4 forming a common bias coil for the respective magnetic head elements 2c is formed extending to the array part of the head elements 2d and 2c. |
