During the splicing of a broken yarn in an open-end spinning unit, the rotor is rotated at a constant but lower speed then operating levels, while at the same the silver feed and yarn take-up are controlled at the normal spinning speed and the rotor brought to inertial speed. All the rotors of an open-end spinning assembly are rotated at the constant low speed while the splicing action follows in series while the silver feed and yarn take-up are as normal, for the rotors to be accelerated to inertial speed, or the rotor speeds can be reduced individually. The reduced rotor speed is 50-90% of the normal spinning rate, and the acceleration to spinning speeds occurs within 0.1-1.5 seconds. The acceleration of the rotor is delayed for 1 second or less after the start of silver feed. The yarn splicing action is simplified as only the rotor is controlled for splicing and the splice is simply a nd positively effected even if the twisting of the yarn is reduced.
|
