TERMINATION OF METALLIC WIRE

PURPOSE:To chamfer easily and uniformly the terminal of a metallic wire having excellent wear resistance and to work the terminal to a semispherical or spherical shape by heating quickly the terminal of the metallic wire by an inert gas shielded arc, etc. thereby melting and solidifying the terminal. CONSTITUTION:An arc is generated between a tungsten electrode 2 and the terminal of the metallic wire 1 in an atmosphere of gaseous argon by using a TIG welding device A and the terminal of the wire 1 is quickly heated and melted by the arc heat thereof. The molten terminal is immediately solidified, by which the terminal of the wire 1 is terminated to the desired shaped such as the semispherical or spherical shape. The termination method is not limited to the above-mentioned method. The similar result is also obtd. by using a plasma arc or laser light to heat quickly the terminal of the metallic wire.
