<p>Mfr. of n-acylphenyl alanines of formula (I) R=methyl or phenyl, R1, R2=H, alkyl, alkoxy, phenoxy, hydroxyl or methylene dioxy by catalytic reduction of N-acyl-beta-phenylserine of formula (II) in a solvent. R=as above, R3, R4=H, alkyl, alkoxy, phenoxy, benzyloxy or methylene dioxy. Pref. the reduction catalyst is Pd, Pt or Rh. The solvent is a phosphoric acid triester or lower alcohol. The reaction temp. is 10-120 deg.C. The reaction is effected in the presence of an acid, e.g., CF3COOH.</p> |
