A condenser for heat pumps is disclosed. The condenser has an outer pipe (1) conducting refrigerant, with, directed perpendicularly to its axis, an inlet connection piece (2). Arranged in the outer pipe (1) are water-conducting pipes (3 and 4). The water-conducting pipes (3) lie directly opposite the filling connection piece (2) and contain water which is to a great extent free of scale deposit, such as for example the water of a heating circuit. The water-conducting pipes (4), with in each case a connection (5), are arranged at a distance (a or b) from the inlet connection piece (2), which results in a cooling of the refrigerant along the water-conducting pipes (3) lying opposite the filling connection piece (2) to a value which is 60 DEG C at the most. The water-conducting pipes (4) serve mainly for conducting water, in the case of which increased scale deposit is to be expected above 60 DEG C. <IMAGE>
