PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a washing method for an oxidative/reductive potential sensor, which can perform washing safely. SOLUTION: A working electrode 2 of non-soluble metal of an oxidative/ reductive potential sensor 1 is subjected to treatments with a strong acid water L1 containing dissolved chlorine, a weal acid water L2 containing dissolved oxygen, and strong alkali water L3 containing dissolved hydrogen in the sequence as named, thereby washing the surface of the working electrode 2 with no use of any washing liquid having toxicity.
