Pharmaceutical product containing live, viable embryo cells, process for its production and test method for determining the pharmaceutical activity

A pharmaceutical product which contains, live, viable embryo cells of mammals in a liquid or solid inert medium is described. These products are produced by removing the uterus of a pregnant mammal, for example after half the usual gestation period of the species to three-quarters of the usual gestation period of the species, and removing the fetus or the fetuses from the uterus under aseptic conditions. The fetuses are dissected, the individual tissues, organs and glands are freed of adherent tissue fibres and body fluids and subsequently reduced to small pieces which are then mechanically disrupted to individual cells. These individual cells are dispersed in an inert liquid medium and the product is deep-frozen where appropriate. Damaged adult mammalian cells mixed with the live, viable embryo cells in a cell culture show a distinct growth and/or a distinct restoration of the disturbed morphology. It is possible in a test method to detect cell-regenerating factors in the serum of adult mammals by mixing this serum with adult damaged mammalian cells, in which case a distinct growth or a restoration of the disturbed morphology indicates the presence of cell-regenerating components in the serum here too.
