In the case of an axial fan, preferably a diffuser-less low-pressure fan for conveying cooling air in cooling towers and finned-tube radiators, having vanes arranged on a hub and having a small hub ratio, provision is made for the hub to comprise two disc-shaped bodies having unequal external diameters, of which the first disc on the inflow side has a smaller diameter than the second disc on the outflow side, and the vanes on their inflow sides have nose-shaped regions which, across the external diameter of the large disc, point inwards to the rotor shaft. Axial fans of this type, with respect to their flow behaviour, come close to the low losses of axial fans having an inflow cowl, more cost-effective manufacture being possible at the same time.
