COOLING A HOT PRODUCT GAS

Cooling a hot product gas with sticky particles which lose their stickiness upon cooling, obtained for example from partly combusting a carbonaceous material, is carried out by passing the produced gas through a cooling section (11) and by injecting into the product gas a frusto-conical annular jet (22) of cooling fluid tapering in the direction (29) of flow of the product gas.
