Each key on the instrument has a light (2), e.g. a LED, liq. crystal or filament lamp, at the end nearest the pivot-point. The lights are switched on by signals from a code reader (4) fed with a pierced paper roll such as a Pianola (RTM) roll. An auxiliary panel (7) carries lights (8) which indicate qualities of the note to be played, e.g. hard/soft duration etc. An alternative version uses magnetic tapes coded according to a musical score. It also has two lights over each key, removing the need for the auxiliary panel. The light may be formed by the ends of optical fibres, rather than electric devices.
|
