PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aspect conversion device which can share a band pass filter, in which a circuit scale is not to be increased and picture quality deterioration does not exist. SOLUTION: The band pass filter 31 having a characteristic for 3/4 compression is used and a video signal is interpolated by an interpolation filter 21. A memory circuit 23 writes the video signal when a high write clock WCK (equivalent to 6fsc) and write enable pulse (WE) are simultaneously supplied. A selection circuit 33 supplies a read clock RCK (equivalent to 4fsc) when the compression rate is 3/4 and WCK when it is 1/2 to the read control terminal of the memory circuit 23. A digital/analog circuit (D/A) 25 converts the video signal into an analog signal in accordance with the output of the selection circuit 33.
