PURPOSE:To reproduce half-tones excellently in original copy mode and form a fog-free image in information signal recording mode by providing a means which changes development characteristics of a developing means corresponding to a selected operation mode. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body 1 is charged electrostatically and uniformly by a charger 2 to, for example, the positive polarity. In original copy mode, a light image of an original 9 scanned through original scanning mirros 10 and 11 is formed on a photosensitive body at an exposure position P through optical systems 10-14 to form an electrostaic latent image corresponding to the original image. In information signal recording mode, on the other hand, a semiconductor laser 21 is driven a driving circuit 22 according to an electric digital information signal from a signal source, such as a computer, word processor, and facsimile transmitter, thereby scanning the photosensitive body 1 at the position P through a polygon mirror 17. Consequently, the eletrostaic latent image corresponding to the information signal is formed on the photosensitive body 1. In either mode, a toner image formed on the photosensitive body 1 is transferred to paper 15 by a transfer charger 15. |
