The invention relates to a pipe element for ventilation or smoke discharge, made of inert materials and at least one binder. The tubular element 1 is provided with a series of hollows 2 of closed cross section, extending longitudinally according to a distribution which is chosen freely in the transverse cross section. The element may be manufactured by extrusion. It has great strength and very good thermal insulation characteristics, for a light weight. Such an element may be used in any type of building. <IMAGE>
