PURPOSE:To remove dust and the like penetrating inside so as to obtain clean screens by providing an adhesive material in the title element. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface of a sealing case 12 is provided with an adhesive material 18. Otherwise, an adhesive material 19 is provided inside a clear plate 14 of glass or the like at such a position as not to shield light to a solid-state image pickup element chip 10. Providing an adhesive material inside the solid-state image pickup element in such a manner enables dust and the like to be deposited on the adhesive material by moderate inclination and oscillation even when said element is closed with dust and the like penetrating in by mistake. Using e.g. an epoxy series as the adhesive material enables dust and the like to be deposited for long time without cure.
