In the case of a gripping finger for removal of workpieces, the finger element being pneumatically operated, a piston which can be displaced in the sleeve of the gripping finger is articulated to the finger element by means of a connecting rod and is moved backwards by means of a helical compression spring when the pneumatic pressure drops. Fixed stripping elements are provided on both sides of the movable finger element, which stripping elements cause the removed workpiece to be dropped when the finger element moves backwards.
