An earthing switch having a resistor comprises a stationary side electrode and a movable side electrode which are arranged opposite one another in an earthed container which is filled with insulation gas. The movable side contact is at earth potential. A movable contact can move into touching contact with a stationary electrode and can be separated from said electrode by passing through the movable side electrode. The movable side electrode is supported by a resistor. The stationary side electrode is earthed by the resistor immediately after the movable contact has been switched on. The earthing leaf (5a), of the rotating type, is connected to the movable contact and is connected to the movable region after a predetermined time period, so that the stationary electrode is directly earthed. <IMAGE>
