PURPOSE:To ameliorate graininess, sharpness, and stability of processing conditions by forming a photosensitive layer composed of three silver halide emulsion layers same in color sensitivity and different in photosensitivity and incorporating a combination of diffusive and nondiffusive DIR compds. in a specified silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:At least one photosensitive layer composed of three silver halide emulsion layers same in color sensitivity and different in photosensitivity is arranged so that the farther these three emulsion layers become apart from the support, the higher in photosensitivity. DIR compd. releasable on reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent and releasing a diffusible development inhibitor or its precursor is incoproporated in the medium sensitive silver emulsion layer, and a diffusion resistant DIR compd. is incorporated in the silver halide emulsion layers higher and/or lower in photosensitivity. The use of such a constitution permits the photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and superior in sharpness to obtained and stability at the time of development processing to be enhanced.
