An earthing switch for an electrical device for discharging a residual charge in the electrical device to earth comprises an earthed housing (1) and a switching unit (2, 3) which can be connected to the electrical device in order to earth said device selectively via a resistor (4). The switching unit (2, 3) is mechanically held by an electrically insulating carrier element and is not subjected to any mechanical forces which act on the switching unit (2, 3) during its operation. The resistor (4) is connected only electrically between the switching unit (2, 3) and the earthed housing (1), in such a manner that no mechanical forces act on the resistor (4) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
