Facsimile data sequences, particularly facsimile data of group 3, are transmitted from a source station (FAX1) to an intermediate station (ZST). In accordance with an initial minimum line transmission time (T1) agreed for transmission between two stations (FAX1 and ZST), any filler data occurring in the transmitted facsimile data sequences are masked out in the intermediate station (ZST) before their storage. In facsimile data sequences to be transmitted from the intermediate station (ZST) to a target station (FAX2), filler data, in particular "0" filler bits, are superimposed in accordance with a second minimum line transmission time (T2) agreed for transmission between the two stations (ZST and FAX2). <IMAGE> |
