<p>Split bearing assemblies are disclosed which have separable bearing caps for both single applications, such as connecting rods, and multiple applications, such as engine crankshaft supports, and are made by a method involving integrally forming the caps with the main body and then separating them by fracture separation, using bore starter notches and semi-circular die expanders, by a two-step separation method that minimizes split plane and bore distortion.</p> |
