Substituted aminophenyl compounds and acylaminophenyl compounds having the formula I <CHEM> are disclosed. Furthermore, pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed which are useful for treating gastrointestinal disorders, central nervous system disorders, or regulating appetite in mammals. They contain as active ingredient as antagonist of cholecystokinin (CCK), a compound of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or quaternary ammonium salt of said compounds.
