A description is given of an adjustable locking mechanism for fittings having a rotatable drive and a rising spindle (2) which is connected to the drive via a spindle nut (3) and a locking bush (5), the locking bush (5) being surrounded by a fixed locking body (7) in which a blocking catch (11) adjustable by means of a key (13) is displaceably arranged, the said catch engaging in one of a plurality of radial holes (18) made in the locking bush (5). In such a locking mechanism, a plurality of permanent magnets (19) corresponding to the number and distribution of the radial holes (18) are arranged in the locking bush (5). An inductive sensor (20) is furthermore accommodated in the locking body (7) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
