The invention relates to a process for producing a furniture front panel, in which process a surface is coated with a film having a significant extensibility only in one axial direction or with a corresponding veneer and is provided with a frame-like embossment which extends, on the one hand, in the extensible axial direction of the film or of the veneer and, on the other hand, traversely to this, a veneer being applied to a chipboard or film which is at first flat and subsequently the film or the veneer being bonded firmly to the chipboard with simultaneous embossing under pressure and heat. According to the invention the chipboard is covered, on the side to be deformed, with a film or a veneer (13) covering the entire surface. Then further film sections or veneer sections (14) running, as regards the extensibility, transversely to the first film or to the first veneer (13) are placed on the first film or on the first veneer (13) in the region adjacent to the subsequent embossings and are secured against displacement outside the deformation region and then, in a known manner, the deformation and bonding process is carried out. By this procedure, comparatively large embossing depths are made possible without the coated surface having cracks or damage. The invention also relates to a furniture front panel produced according to this process. <IMAGE>
